Specific foods, and their nutrients, have a powerful Dynamic Ageing properties and help you to protect your brain from the ravages of ageing. So here are three further ones to add to those we discussed last week.
Brain-friendly food No 4 is OILY FISH
The omega-3 fats in oily fish help build membranes around every cell in the body, including brain cells, where they improve the structure of brain cells called neurons and the communication between them.
Brain-friendly food No 5 is SOYA
Soybean products like tofu are rich in a group of antioxidants called polyphenols, which are linked to a reduced risk of dementia and other age-related cognitive problems. The polyphenols they contain - isoflavones, including daidzein and genistein – are antioxidants, and we all know how good these are for brain health.
Brain-friendly food No 6 is AVOCADOES
I could dedicate an entire newsletter to why I recommend avocadoes for dynamic ageing but suffice it to say that, in this context, you should eat them because they are chock-full of nutrient-dense monounsaturated fats, which support blood flow to the brain. They’re also helpful in reducing blood pressure, and high blood pressure is linked with cognitive decline.
So let's EAT for our BRAIN!
