Dynamic Ageing - What IS it?

What does the expression actually mean? Well, perhaps the best place to start is to explain what it is NOT! Because while I firmly believe – and in fact have learned from experience – that many aspects of ageing are negotiable, there are others which are a given and however hard we try, however much effort we put into it, however much money we spend on it, we simply cannot hold back time and cheat the final outcome. So when I talk about Dynamic Ageing, what do I NOT mean?

Let’s look at what DYNAMIC AGEING is NOT:-


1. The mythical Fountain of Youth – the fountain has been the objective of many searches and adventures along the centuries, but it has remained elusive and, if anything, has slipped further from anybody’s grasp with the advent of industrialisation, food processing and 21st century eating habits - disappointing though it is, there is no fountain in which we can bathe and wash away all the ravages of time!


2. A magic pill with which to effortlessly cast off all the unwanted baggage which we have picked up on our road through life


3. A cure-all for anything and everything


4. An answer to all of life’s challenges – but it IS to very many


5. A way to remain “young” forever – "youthful" most certainly but it will not take you back to your twenties, thirties or wherever


6. Anything to do with luck – luck may play a part in the way you age but there is SO much you can do to avoid drawing the short straw


7. Easy - Dynamic Ageing requires awareness, understanding, commitment, determination, effort and time – at least to start with, but it DOES progressively become a way of life and therefore consistently more uncomplicated and painless


8. A short-term solution or a quick fix – as above, you do need to put in the necessary energy, make it a way of life and live that way of life


9. A future of pill-popping, with countless dietary supplements to take with every meal and throughout the day


10. A gastronomic wilderness – I was a classically trained chef in another lifetime and I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the concept of “DYNAMIC AGEING eating” can not only support our bodies in their life-long pursuit of health but can also be a source of infinite delight and satisfaction


11. Only of use to those past a certain age – ageing begins at conception and boy does it pick up speed as it goes along! It is NEVER too early, just as it is NEVER too late


12. A stress-free way of living – a DYNAMIC AGEING lifestyle certainly helps us to avoid stress, cope with it and manage it more effectively but it does not wipe it out totally


13. Irrelevant due to your genetic predisposition – genes only load the gun


14. An abnormal way of living – on the contrary, it is natural and uplifting


15. Dull, boring or a waste of time!!! The healthier, more energetic, more vital and more DYNAMIC you are as you grow older, the happier you will be and the more you will enjoy life
